I know it's not easy

I am aware it is not easy to start therapy. The prospect of talking to a stranger about private issues might seem daunting at first. I just want you to know that it is my job to make you feel comfortable and guide you through the process, so that you do not have to do things alone.

Before deciding whether you want to contact me or not, you might want to know a few things about me, so let me introduce myself.

A little bit about me

My name is Inés, I come from a bilingual family (Spanish and French) and I spent a few years in London as a child. I have always enjoyed learning and speaking other languages.

When I was a young adult, I went through a personal crisis, that lead me to psychotherapy. I got so much out of it in terms of knowing myself and understanding what was going on in my relationships, that I decided to work as a psychologist for a living. I wanted to do for others what my psychotherapist did for me. I think I can relate to you in two different ways:

How I can help you

In my 14 years of experience as a psychotherapist, I have come to understand that each symptom hides a story for us to decipher. The problem is: symptoms are uncomfortable.

Whether it is anxiety, a stomach ache with no apparent physical cause or intrusive thoughts, we just want them to go away. However, fighting them doesn’t help. It might bring some relief, but it doesn’t make them disappear.

My job is to unravel the story, that lies beneath your symptoms. 

Sometimes it can take a while, because this story might have been buried in the depth of your unconscious mind.

You might be asking yourself: how do we get to retrieve this story? Well, it is my job to inquire. As a psychologist, I know what to ask and what to look for. I want to understand the little child that you once were, the family environment you grew up in and how you adapted both to the positive and the negative events of your life. Along the way, there might be some emotions coming up.

This is good: it is an opportunity to release them. You are likely to feel more liberated when you have let them come out, which in turn will lead to a clearer mind.

Once you understand yourself more, you will be freer to decide which changes you want to make in your life.
